A Well-Oiled Machine

Hi-Tec Profiles Inc. is Fabricating the Future

In 1995, three people saw the need for innovation in steel-processing technology in the province. They would come together to form Saskatchewan’s own Hi-Tec Profiles Inc. and are now celebrating 26 remarkable years in business. Hi-Tec started out with deep roots in agriculture, and today it cuts across diverse industries throughout Western Canada as a leader in their field. With recent expansion into Saskatoon, the company has big plans for more growth in the market.

Deep Roots, Cutting Edge

“We have the widest product and service offering in Western Canada,” says Trent Meyer, president at Hi-Tec. “We started out serving the agriculture industry and now we service anyone who uses steel and other metals, including oil and gas, mining and construction, among others.” The company runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week to keep up with demand, and to ensure customers are getting what they need, with an eye on quality and efficiency.

Innovation is part of the Hi-Tec DNA, and the company never shies away from new ideas, products or services. “We’re not afraid to stay on the cutting-edge when it comes to technology. If we can add value with technology and offer more services to benefit our customers, we do it,” says Regan Wagner, vice-president at Hi-Tec. “We’re a one-stop shop for the industries we serve, often managing processes that others don’t.”

A Matter of Fact

Hi-Tec, despite its incredible growth over the last 26 years, has never forgotten who is at the centre of their business—their customer. They are committed to every customer they serve, no matter the size of the job. Today, Hi-Tec is a strategic supply chain partner that takes the pressure off their customers when they need it. “We’re a big company now, but we have kept that ‘small business feel’ that has made us what we are today,” says Grant Laturnas, Hi-Tec sales manager. “We’ve grown alongside our customers, making sure we do what we do, so they can focus on their business and do what they do best.”

Meyer agrees. “We’re about getting it right from the start,” says Meyer. “We get to know our customers, their business, and their needs. They are our ‘why’.” That ‘why’ means that when Hi-Tec commits to a job, they will deliver a quality job done right and on time, every time.

At the Heart of It

The company is more than a job shop steel processor. It is also a place with an experienced team and a culture committed to excellence, to each other, and to the communities they are proud to call home. When a customer needs the Hi-Tec team to go above and beyond, they do.

“We had a customer not long ago who needed something in a pinch and our staff rose to the challenge,” says Meyer. “On a Wednesday, we received a request that needed to be delivered on the following Monday to be ready for welding: and our team was onsite Sunday loading a truck to meet our customer’s needs.”

Tracey Fraser is Hi-Tec’s office manager and handles the company’s HR needs. She sees the company culture in action every day. “When I started, it was apparent how much pride the people at Hi-Tec take in their work, and doing it well,” says Fraser. “It starts at the top, too. There isn’t a leader here that won’t drive a forklift or grab a broom when it’s needed.” That sense of pride, mixed with a big dose of prairie humility, has guided Hi-Tec from its very start. Plus, Hi-Tec knows the value of giving back. “We’re also proud to help out in the community when and where we can,” says Fraser. “Our sponsorships and donations come from the heart of our team.”

Celebrating 26 years, Hi-Tec Profiles is one of Western Canada’s leading providers of steel processing services, including profile cutting and bending technology.
