Avena Foods names new CEO

Wayne Arsenault, Avena Foods CEO.

Wayne Arsenault has been named Avena Foods‘ CEO after the retirement of Gord Flaten.

“We welcome Wayne’s customer-first approach, which was developed over years in strategic management, manufacturing, and brand development. His passion for building partnerships and empowering teams strongly aligns with Avena’s vision of Partnering for safe, healthy diets and a sustainable world,” said Pete Samson, Avena Foods’ board chair with the announcement.

Arsenault is a long-time entrepreneur, holding several leadership roles including president and CEO at Big Rock Brewery, vice president positions at Moosehead Breweries, and general manager for Molson Canadian in Vancouver.

Based in Regina, Avena Foods was founded in 2008, and merged with Best Cooking Pulses Inc. in 2018.  Avena is a specialty miller providing ingredients for the food, beverage and pet food manufacturing sectors with facilities in Saskatchewan and Portage la Prairie, Man.
